Paramount Pictures subsidiary Nickelodeon Movies in association with Platinum Dunes and Mednick Productions are getting ready to begin production on the live-action feature film “Ninja Turtles,” based on the legendary comic book series by Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird. Casting directors are holding auditions for starring, co-starring, and supporting roles. The extras casting director will be hiring featured and general background performers throughout filming, which is taking place from April 13 through July 31, 2013. Shooting will be at the largest and most sophisticated studio complex outside of Hollywood, Steiner Studios in Brooklyn. Additional principal photography will take place at various locations in New York City and surrounding areas.
The first film in The Mortal Instruments series, “City of Bones” is now in pre-production for an August, 2012 start date in New York and Toronto. The casting director has begun auditions for the film’s starring roles, and aside from the lead roles of Clary Fray and Jace Wayland, all major parts are up for grabs. Lily Collins has signed on to the starring role, and despite rumors – Jamie Campbell Bower will play the role of Jace. All major roles are being cast out of Los Angeles, New york, and Toronto – extras will be cast in New York and Toronto.
The next film in The Hunger Games trilogy, “Catching Fire”, will begin filming in North Carolina this coming Fall, 2012. With four-time Academy Award nominee Gary Ross announcing that he will not be returning to direct Catching Fire, there is a good chance that a different casting director will be hired. It is most often the director who chooses the casting director, and three-time Casting Society of America Artios Award winner Debra Zane has cast every film that Gary Ross has directed or produced since 1998 including “Pleasantville”, “Seabiscuit“, and “The Tale of Despereaux“. Zane would likely cast Ross’ next project instead of “Catching Fire”.
The casting director for “The Hunger Games” and “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn” is currently auditioning actors for co-starring and supporting roles in the NBC 1/2 hour single-camera comedy sitcom “1600 Penn”. Additional principal actor casting is taking place in New York. Shooting will take place beginning April 9, 2012 in Los Angeles, where all of the extras and stand-ins will be hired. The show features an all-star cast and can be described as a White House Washington political comedy.
