ABC has launched the first ever digital talent outreach contest in the United States, where actors and comedians can submit a video of their acting or stand-up comedy performance for a chance to be seen by ABC Casting executives. The contest is called “ABC Make Me a Star,” and will consist of two components. One is a private competition where ABC will select the winner, and the other will be a publicly voted competition where the public votes for the winner out of ten finalists chosen by ABC.

Di Bonaventura Pictures and DreamWorks SKG in association with Hasbro are set to begin production on the Paramount Pictures science fiction action film “Transformers 4”. Casting directors are auditioning actors in Los Angeles, as well as Austin, TX where filming will take place beginning late May, 2013. The extras will be cast throughout filming. Additional shooting will take place in various locations including China. This project is currently being referred to as “Untitled Transformers Sequel,” and will the first feature film to be shot using smaller digital IMAX 3D cameras.
MGM Studios and Paramount Pictures in association with Rat Entertainment, Film 44, and Radical Pictures are in pre-production on the major feature film “Hercules: The Thracian Wars“. Filming is set to commence in early 2013, and the shooting location will be in New Zealand. The movie is based on the Radical Comics graphic novel of the same name written by Steve Moore. Casting for the film’s main stars will take place in Los Angeles and New York, with additional casting in Wellington, New Zealand. The photo-doubles and stand-ins for the film’s stars will be cast in New Zealand, as well as the extras.

Bad Hat Harry Productions, The Donners’ Company, and Marvel Studios are in pre-production on “X-Men: Days of Future Past,” the sequel to “X-Men: First Class” for 20th Century Fox Film Corporation. The start date for shooting was originally scheduled for January 2013, but has been pushed back to April 2013. Auditions for the film’s main stars will take place in Los Angeles, with additional principal actor casting in Montreal. The extras, photo-doubles, and stand-ins will be hired in Montreal throughout shooting. “X-Men: Days of Future Past” is scheduled to hit theaters on July 18, 2014.

On May 2, 2009 Mine That Bird pulled off the second-biggest upset in Kentucky Derby history by winning the 135th running of the race. Now the true story is being told in a biopic feature film titled “50 to 1”. The movie is in production in Louisville, KY and over 500 extras are being cast to work on the film. The shooting days are likely from October 12th through the 21st. These are fully paid positions with overtime likely, as film shoots commonly run 10-12 hours and longer. No prior experience working as a background performer is necessary, and there are no fees whatsoever to be considered.
The Twentieth Century Fox comedy feature film “The Internship” is currently in production and the extras casting director in Atlanta, GA is seeking men and women, 18 years of age and older, all types, any ethnicity to work as background extras on the film. Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson star as two middle aged men who lose their salesmen jobs and find themselves trying to learn new-world skills by working as interns at Google amongst their much younger counterparts. Filming will take place through the end of September, 2012.

The feature film “Mavericks”, which tells the true story of legendary Santa Cruz big-wave surfer Jay Moriarity, is casting lead and supporting roles in Los Angeles, CA. Day players and extras will be cast starting in mid-September and continue throughout filming, which takes place in Santa Cruz, CA starting in October, 2011.
